Stay safe this summer

Summer is a time for fun, family, getting outdoors and making memories. Don’t let an unfortunate incident sidetrack your summer months. Plan ahead to mitigate risk with these simple steps:

• Notify your insurance broker if you install a pool or trampoline. Ensure proper fencing and safety measures are in place.
• Keep BBQs away from siding, fences and overhanging branches.
• Lock your home and vehicle(s) and keep valuables out of sight.
• Use timers on lights and consider a monitored security system if spending a lot of time away from home.
• Ensure your cottage smoke alarms, CO2 alarms and fire extinguishers are up to date and have fresh batteries.
• Trim tree branches near your dwelling(s) to prevent damage from summer storms.
